Laurent Thomas devient Directeur de l’activité Ingénierie #3

Laurent Thomas takes the helm of the Engineering business line to accelerate the decarbonization of industrial manufacturers
To meet the sectoral GHG reduction targets set by the French Low Carbon Strategy – i.e. over 35% by 2030 – the industrial sector, the third-largest emitter, must accelerate the decarbonization of its operations and production processes. In this respect, the France 2030 investment plan focuses on the electrification of processes, the production of heat from biomass and SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel), and the recovery of waste energy. E’nergys has appointed Laurent Thomas as Director of Engineering to support manufacturers in their low-carbon production initiatives, focusing on the key pillars of quality, cost, and deadlines. Reporting to Martin Villemot, Chief Operating Officer of the E’nergys Group, Laurent Thomas will oversee the operational and economic performance of this division, which manages a diverse portfolio of biomass, RDF, and methanization projects.
In his new role, Laurent Thomas is responsible for managing and developing the Engineering business, in line with the Group’s strategic priorities and other business lines. He is responsible for supervising the planning, performance and delivery of projects in line with the Quality, Cost and Delivery triptych, to ensure customer satisfaction. In addition to leading his team and managing a network of partners and suppliers, Laurent is tasked with fostering a culture of performance and innovation. His role includes identifying future growth opportunities such as the electrification of industrial processes, and developing tailored solutions to drive business expansion.

The National Low Carbon Strategy has set decarbonization framework and targets for industry. The France 2030 plan outlines potential solutions and breakthrough technologies to advance the transition to low-carbon production systems. Today, we’re working with manufacturers on biomass and SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel) projects of ever-increasing size, volume and fuel type. We also guide them towards another key lever for decarbonization: the electrification of their production processes. In fact, according to La Fabrique de l’Industrie, the share of electricity in France’s industrial energy mix, already largely decarbonized through nuclear and renewable energy, is expected to nearly double by 2050.
