In addition to meeting the requirements of the French Tertiary Decree, the ALTEMA Group is leveraging the expertise of the E’nergys Group to enhance the energy performance of its buildings and reduce their carbon footprint, thereby contributing to overall performance aligned with the three pillars of CSR: economic, social, and environmental.

Benfeld, June 1, 2022 – As a national leader in metal solutions for building cladding and chimney smoke evacuation, the ALTEMA Group has chosen E’nergys Solutions for its expertise in energy efficiency. This partnership supports ALTEMA’s commitment to reducing energy consumption in line with the Tertiary Sector Decree and the upcoming OPERAT declaration in September 2022, with targets of a 40% reduction by 2030 and 60% by 2050. Evolving from the Alsatian family business HILD, founded in 1869, the ALTEMA Group has grown into a national brand that, as of 2021, brings together sixteen regional entities. Today, the Group employs 600 people, generates €235 million in revenue, and operates from 41 real estate assets across France, three of which are dedicated to production, spanning thousands of square meters in compliance with the Tertiary Sector Decree. To take things a step further, ALTEMA has also commissioned E’nergys Solutions to conduct an energy audit at its historic Jebsheim production site, to qualify energy consumption and identify potential savings. More than ever, the ALTEMA Group is giving priority to energy efficiency as a lever for competitiveness, attractiveness and loyalty among its BtoB customers and employees!

As David GORASSO, IS & HSE Manager for the ALTEMA Group, explains: “Amid rising fossil fuel prices and the growing urgency of the low-carbon transition, environmental awareness is increasing among both our employees and customers. They remain strongly aligned with our brand’s values and commitments to actively reduce our environmental impact. Energy efficiency lies at the core of our CSR strategy and must be transformed into real-world actions. With the support of E’nergys Solutions, we aim to reduce our energy consumption, and consequently our carbon footprint, while striking a balance between sustainability and competitiveness.”

To meet the regulatory obligations of the Tertiary Decree within a short timeframe, the ALTEMA Group was on the lookout for an energy efficiency expert early in 2022 to support it at every stage. From the inventory of its premises to the declaration on Ademe’s OPERAT platform, and including action plans to meet the ambitious reduction targets set by the regulations! This also applies to the energy audit of its historic Jebsheim industrial site, which is required every four years under the DDADUE law (Various Provisions for the Adaptation to European Union Law). David GORASSO adds, “We were looking for a service provider with true experience and expertise in energy efficiency in the commercial and industrial sectors, far beyond the supply of a mere software solution. It had to be able to take a wide-angle view and provide us with hands-on advice based on the realities of our business, by setting the “right” energy efficiency sliders for the scale of our activity.

At the crossroads of the environmental and digital transitions, E’nergys Solutions, a new entity within the E’nergys Group and a catalyst for energy-saving projects for SMEs and mid-sized companies, is quickly distinguishing itself in the eyes of the ALTEMA Group.” In fact, its “turnkey” approach and methodology guarantee step-by-step support, both in relation to the Tertiary Sector Decree and the site energy audit. The team work between E’nergys Solutions and the ALTEMA Group began in February 2022 for a period of 5 years.

To carry out these two missions, the Tertiary Decree and the Energy Audit, E’nergys Solutions draws on the rich pool of expertise within the E’nergys Group, notably through its Impulse design office.” By spring 2022, the ‘field’ phase of the energy audit, namely the on-site assessment, had already been completed. Key performance indicators were defined, initial energy optimization measures were presented, and potential financing options, including subsidies, were set to be proposed within a few weeks. The ALTEMA Group is currently gathering energy consumption data for its services-sector buildings. E’nergys experts will then aggregate and analyze this data in accordance with the varying levels of complexity set out by the Tertiary Decree, depending on the chosen methodology, whether relative or absolute values, and the most appropriate reference year. This data will form the knowledge base for the declaration to be filed on the OPERAT platform before September 30, 2022 and the roadmap required to reduce the ALTEMA Group’s energy consumption by 40% in 2030, 50% in 2040 and 60% in 2050!

David GORASSO concludes: “With E’nergys Solutions, we’re embarking on the difficult path of energy sobriety. Our E’nergys Manager guides us, step by step, to reduce our impact and the energy costs linked to our activity, according to the most efficient levers of action, such as the installation of electric recharging stations. And that’s just the beginning, as energy efficiency initiatives will be stepped up in the coming years.”
