The benefits
With our support, the project delivered significant outcomes:

biomass
of Réunion island's electricity produced by the plant
renewable energy in its power mix after conversion on the island
As the leading electricity producer on Réunion island, Albioma is committed to phasing out coal entirely and moving toward energy self-sufficiency. In 2023, the historic Le Gol power plant was fully converted to biomass, under the project management of E’nergys.
With our support, the project delivered significant outcomes:

The ENERGYS–ALBIOMA collaboration was efficient and constructive. The rigor, expertise, and commitment shown by E’nergys during the execution studies and technical supervision were key success factors in delivering high-quality support.

– Energy Transition Project Manager – ALBIOMA

Commissioned in 1995 in Saint-Louis, the 122 MW Le Gol power plant is one of the cornerstones of electricity production on Réunion island, accounting for 40% of the energy available on the grid.
In 2022, the French Energy Regulation Commission authorized Albioma to permanently eliminate coal in favor of a fully biomass-based fuel mix. This transition aligns with the objectives of the French Energy Transition Law, which aims for over 50% renewable energy in the French overseas territories by 2025 and full energy autonomy over the longer term.
To carry out this strategic transformation—while ensuring uninterrupted power supply for the island—Albioma sought a project management partner capable of coordinating all work packages and guaranteeing smooth execution.
Albioma set the following targets:

E’nergys provided full project management services, overseeing every phase of the process—from preliminary studies and contractor consultation to technical coordination, scheduling and project control, construction supervision, commissioning, and final acceptance support.
To deliver this large-scale project, E’nergys mobilized a dedicated team consisting of an Operations Director, Project Managers and Coordinators, and engineers specialized in electricity, boiler systems, and hydro-mechanical engineering.
All conversion, storage, and biomass handling works were successfully completed in 2023.
E’nergys provides a multidisciplinary team capable of managing large-scale initiatives while ensuring quality, cost control, and on-time delivery.
